Better in the Bahamas!

My husband and I just recently returned from a trip to Nassau, Bahamas. We have frequented this island more than 60 times and each and every time we go back, it has been a very enjoyable, relaxing experience.

This trip, we were given the best room in the Crystal Palace Casino Hotel. Two floors, two bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, dining area, living room, foyer and a small loft. Couldn't get any better than that! We were also upgraded to first class on Delta airlines both ways!

We had made friends with other photographers on the island many years ago when I attended the Professional Photographers of the Bahamas conference each winter. I was asked back then to be on their board. Everyone was exceptionally friendly and shared all of their photo ideas and experiences with me. One couple in paticular is Kenny and Pat Love. Kenny is the owner of his photo studio called "Eyes of Love". I think a very appropriate name. We have stayed friends over the years and we try to get together with them each time we visit the island.

This time was no exception. Kenny and Pat picked my husband and I up from our hotel and took us to one of my favorite places called "Compass Point Beach Resort". I call it "Crayola Village" (you will see why when you view the photos). It has a wonderful dinning area (inside or out) and these brighltly colored bungalows where one can stay overnight. Each bunglalow has a flat screen tv, dvd players, surround sound systems, iPod connectors, wifi, air conditioning and refrigerators. Not to mention the most beautiful sunsets right outside their windows.

Dinner was excellent and they also had live entertainment. It was the highlight of our trip.
We always look forward to the next time in the Bahamas and seeing Kenny and Pat again.

Lucy's first professional photos

One of the best parts of being a photographer is being there to photograph the important events in a families life. It starts with the wedding, then the first baby. And, if I'm lucky, the next addition to the family and so on.

Well, I guess I was lucky because I did photograph the wedding and the first baby, Aden who is now 2 years old and his new baby sister, Lucy who is 4 weeks old.

Lucy came in this past weekend to have her first professional portraits done with her Mommy and Daddy and big brother.

Everyone's heard of the terrible two's, and I guess Aden must have heard about them too because it was a challenge getting him to sit still with the family. We finally got him to smile!

It was a pleasure meeting you, Lucy and seeing Aden again. He's getting so big!

Asked to Judge

Hi, I received a phone call a couple of weeks ago to be a judge for the Flagpole Camera Club in Newtown, Ct. for this Sat., April 2nd. I am honored to be part of this annual event. I used to be the President of this wonderful camera club. Nice people, great photography, and a beautiful new addition to the Newtown Library. You wonder...why is it called "Flagpole Camera Club" when it's in Newtown? Well, that's because only a short distance away is the Newtown Flagpole. It's huge! A very prominent landmark. You can't miss it! Flagpole Camera Club has an annual print competition and all the prints will be hanging for anyone to view on Sunday, April 3rd. Stop by and take a peak if your in the area.

OK, so I'm a procrastinator

Yep...two years ago I tried to start my new Blog. I just posted a couple of things and was stuck. I didn't know how to get it on the internet or my website.

This weekend was our CTPPA convention and the speaker on Monday was talking about her Blog. I began to think that my Blog was dead in the water and needed to be revived, so here I am once again trying to make a go of it.

Where have I Been???

I have been photographing weddings and families for the past 17 years. I have not stopped trying to keep up with the trend of digital and everything else in the business.

I recently attended an all week class in Cape Cod called NEIPP (New England Institute of Professional Photography). My class was instructed by the world-renown Susan and Stewart Powers of Gainesville, FL It was an intensive study in Advanced Children's Portraiture.

During that week, we had live models from which to pose and photograph. Two babies, a brother and sister aged 2 and 5, a pregnant mother with her 3 yr. old son, and a family of five on the beach. In addition to the children and family, we were exposed to another facet of Susan and Stewarts' studio ideas. It is called "Curves and Kisses". A very personal photo session of a young woman who would like to give photos to her boyfriend, fiance or husband. To say the least, it was a very interesting session and the images came out fabulous.

I have added maternity and newborns to my photo session list for the past year. I have found my nitche and hope to do many more in the coming years.

Hi,
Yes, this is me. I had this photo taken of myself last summer as part of my on going fun task to get new photos of myself for my President's Message for the Spotlight. I am currently President of CPPA (Connecticut Professional Photographer's Association) and part of my duties is to write a message each month for our newsletter called The Spotlight. I have decided to place a new and different photo of myself in the newsletter each month. I think it keeps it fresh and doesn't get too boring for our members to view. This photo was taken by Julia Gerace from Monroe. She is an excellent photographer winning many awards at our conventions and monthly print competitions. It was a fun experience to go to her studio in Shelton.
I'll share more photos of myself and also photos of some of my own work as a Professional Photographer.

The Birth of my first Blog

Hello everyone, and welcome to my new Blog. I have heard about Blogs over the past year or two, but had no idea what this was all about until I took a photography class last week and it was all the Buzz.
Most of the people in the class did not have a blog, so I didn't feel too bad.
Now that I have started mine, I hope you will come and visit me here from time to time.
I will share with you many different subjects about my business and personal life.
